Dear Asheville,
You know I love you for your rugged beauty and laid-back vibe. From the pine-scented mountain air to the resilient spirit that flows through your streets, you've always been my sanctuary. But can we talk about something that's been on my mind lately? Fashion and glamour seem to be slipping away, and I find myself yearning for those moments of getting dressed up, of stepping out in shoes that pinch but look fabulous, of feeling like the best version of myself.
We've been through a lot recently, haven't we? The aftermath of the hurricane left us all shaken, but amidst the cleanup and rebuilding, I've realized how much I miss the cathartic release of getting dolled up. It's more than just clothes—it's about self-image, self-worth, and reclaiming a sense of normalcy after the storm.
Retail therapy, as they say, isn't just about buying things; it's about the transformative power of fashion. It's about slipping into a dress that makes you feel invincible or finding that perfect pair of heels that elevate your confidence to new heights. It's about the joy of self-expression and the simple pleasure of looking in the mirror and liking what you see.
Before the hurricane, I noticed that dressing up was becoming a rare occasion. Casual Fridays turned into casual everydays, and slowly, the art of glamour seemed to fade. Now, in the wake of the storm, I worry that a part of my life may disappear forever. Where will I go to wear shoes I can't walk in? Who will join me in celebrating the power of fashion to uplift and inspire?
Asheville, let's not let glamour slip away. Let's reclaim those moments of dressing up, of supporting local designers and boutique owners who pour their hearts into creating pieces that make us feel extraordinary. Let's remember that fashion isn't frivolous—it's a form of art, a way to express ourselves and connect with others.
So here's my plea, Asheville: let's make a date to bring back glamour. Let's celebrate our resilience by embracing the joy of dressing up, of daring to wear something that makes us feel alive and beautiful. Together, we can create a city where style meets substance, where creativity flourishes, and where the simple act of getting dressed becomes a celebration of life itself.
Here's to Asheville, to glamour, and to the resilience that shines through even the darkest of storms.
Cheers, darling.
