Whiteside Mountain

Whiteside Mountain, nestled in the Nantahala National Forest between Cashiers and Highlands, North Carolina, stands at an elevation of 4,930 feet. The 2-mile loop trail ascends approximately 500 feet, leading hikers along the edge of sheer 750-foot cliffs. Along the path, you'll encounter multiple overlooks offering panoramic views to the east, south, and west. Safety is prioritized with ample railings at each viewpoint. The trailhead is located off US Highway 64; turn onto Whiteside Mountain Road (SR 1600) and follow it for about 1 mile to reach the parking area. Please note, there is a $2.00 per vehicle fee for parking.
