Stairway Falls
Stairway Falls, also known as Stair Step Falls, is a captivating 50-foot cascade along the Horsepasture River in Pisgah National Forest. The waterfall features a series of five ten-foot waterfalls that create a stair-like appearance, with water tumbling over multiple tiers into a serene pool surrounded by large boulders, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the natural beauty. The hike to Stairway Falls is about 2.5 miles round-trip and rated moderate to strenuous. While most of the trail is well-maintained, the final descent to the falls is steep and unmarked, requiring careful footing and some navigation through a rugged section.
