Point Lookout Trail

If you want a taste of both history and natural beauty, this paved greenway in Pisgah National Forest is where to go. What was once Old US Highway 70 is now a path that curves through the woods, offering sweeping views of the mountains, the railroad, and the wild forest. It’s only 3.6 miles one way, but the climb is real—900 feet from Old Fort to Ridgecrest. It's a route that asks you to work for the view, but in return, you get something worth the effort: a moment where nature meets the road, and everything in between feels like it's just for you.
